Filters and membranes are Fractalins™ (of the HMG1 material)

Filters, membranes and other porous flow-through uses:  One of the widest industrial uses of porous ceramics is as filters and membranes. The filter products made from FRACTALBALLS™ (HMG1 material) are unique because they offer a wide variety of possible pore sizes and are thermal shock resistant compared to most commonly used ceramics. The fact that this material may be used to 1850°C inherently makes these filters re-usable because they may be cleaned in a furnace. 

Use for filtering liquid aluminum or for other choice purposes unique to your application. The material has high purity and will not contaminate the alloy (please see section on FRACTALBALLS™ for the composition of HMG1). Special sizes of these filters are also available (i.e. sizes not listed in the buy portion of the site). Please contact us for prices for the special sizes. However, we highly recommend that the standard sizes be evaluated prior to placing a non-standard size order with us.
 

FRACTALINS™  are unique lightweight non-fiber high temperature insulating boards and other shapes which display low density and high strength. The board has excellent low thermal conductivity, high thermal shock resistance heat, and chemical and mechanical stability. FRACTALINS™, made from the HMG1 material are available in various sizes and shapes for a variety of applications.

Typical applications are furnace linings, hot plates, filters, and kiln furniture.

TYPICAL USAGE of FRACTALINS™: FRACTALINS™ are an excellent material to use as insulation boards in furnace lining and kiln furniture. They have a higher service life compared to any fiber, filters, or membranes insulating board, due to superior mechanical, and chemical stability at high temperatures. Other applications include hot plates, gas combustion burners, fire protection and stops. Due to the high porosity, high strength, and high melting point. FRACTALINS™ may find other uses. Typical applications are molten metal filtration, oil trapping and recovery, grease filters, hot-gas and steam cleaning filters, chemical and water purification processes. It may also be used as substrate support for membrane reactors.
