Generally the Graphite and tungsten furnaces are cold-shell,
cylindrical box type with front opening. With atmospheres which
either have vacuum rating in clean dry atmosphere~ 0.005 torr
or Inert Gas. When graphite heating elements are used,
they are slotted or cylindrical rod heater with cold end terminals
and are designed to ensure uniform free radiation with ease
of replacement. Heating elements are generally mounted on three
sides. The electrical feed-through's are water cooled up to
the copper-graphite junction to avoid build-up of any junction
resistance and subsequent arcing. The feed-through flanges are
mounted with "O" rings and are water cooled. The flanges are
mounted with adjustable bolt/ screw arrangement, the copper
feed-through is a special ball and socket design which gives
ample alignment for ease in replacement of elements.
