Description

Microheater. Low Amp, High Temperature. High Power Microheater.  GAXP-IgMp. 1350°C-1600°C.   

Temperature:  Maximum continuous temperature not to exceed 1500C (2732F).  Microheater for 1600C (~2900F) for short burst duration.  Common use 1400°C (2552°F),  Rapid heat product.

Volts:  24 V each.

Size:  Heated length is 1″.  Total cylinder length is 2.2″ +_0.5″.  Lug on each side is 0.5″.  Total length ~3.2″

Power: Up to 400W

Element GAXP-IgMp.  The more accurate measurement technique at these temperatures is a radiation pyrometer.

Electricals: Maximum power is 400 Watts.  The maximum temperature is achieved for ~ 17A with full power and maximum temperature when the S24-400 is used in moderately free radiative conditions (upto 20A RMS meter read-out in fully free-radiating conditions)

A 24V minimum supply rated for 17 Amps (variable) is the minimum required for heating to glowing conditions.

A 24V DC (nominal) power generators/supply is offered. in the pull down menu.  This is not a feedback control.  For Feed back Control choose BPAN-O-PLUS and Power Transformer that MHI will recommend.

Heating Rate:  The heater will start getting hot as soon as  power is introduced to it.  Typically one will notice a glow (i.e when it is above ~800°C) in the order of a minute, when unit is powered in a normal manner.

Connectors:  Accessory Pack M6 Bolts (picture shown) may be added.

Physical Details:  Heater length is 1″.  Total cylinder length including lugs ~2.2″.  Not including the rings or prongs required for the electrical connections.  Changes slightly with the terminal contacts chosen.  Heated Section Length ~12mm+-1mm (~0.5″).

The heater diameter is ~9 +-0.6 mm (nominal)  (Not including the terminal forks/rings shown in the picture).  Near the lugs the diameter is ~22mm.

The maximum heater amps (~17 Amps- 20 Amps ) or temperature (which should be measured with a calibrated pyrometer) cannot be exceed.  Please call MHI for emissivity settings.

If a DC supply is required one may order from MHI or elsewhere. DC power supplies unlike the AC supply panel may not offer a feedback control.  Please note the following if a non-MHI supply is employed:   Most DC power supplies max-out somewhere in their rated current or voltage (and power) but often allow independent control of each parameter – please check with supplier  All these features will normally be called out be in the power-supply manual provided by the supply manufacturer.

The current should not exceed 17-20 amps for a S24-400

The S24-400 heater will glow close to its highest temperature for 17-20A current with a corresponding potential drop of about (~24V) in a free radiating mode.  That is with no insulation cover.  Use as a radiator or ignitor.    Please note that some differences in cold start to glow start times (order of 1 minute for GAXP-IGMP) between units may be noted.

An AC current controller enabled with a  temperature feedback and power control mechanism may also be used instead of a DC power supply.  The BPAN-O-PLUS is recommended as as the possible AC controller to be used.  The main features of this AC control panel are listed on http://mhi-inc.com/PG4/electronic-controllers-control-panels.html.  Please contact MHI 513-772-0404 for more details.

Heated Section Length ~1″.

The maximum heater amperes (~17 Amps to 20Amps ) or the temperature 1600C (measured with a calibrated pyrometer) cannot be exceed.  Please call MHI for emissivity settings for a  pyrometer.

The rated amps and voltage are called out for use in a free radiating mode.  If using in a confined mode instead (i.e. if free radiation is interrupted with insulation), please monitor the heater temperature so as not to exceed the maximum rated temperature of 1500C-1600C.  Please review the picture shown above or contact MHI for details if a different type of connector than shown is required.

**Typical Supply Pictures Shown, Images are to be considered as approximate.  Dimensions may not include ring or fork part of the lugs. The DC supply offered in the options is for one S24 heater.  When using several for example for a black body source please ensure that a correct supply rated for the power draw is used. MHI can assist with custom supplies.  All supplies are UL/CE rated.

This is a unique low amp high wattage microheater that can be used where ignitors are commonly used or in SEM, ESEM or other testing machine.  It is a 24 V plug in.

The terminals will take the heat!
